| The new biography Hopalong Cassidy An American Legend has been released and it is THE definitive account of William Boyd's life. The book covers his entire life from his birth in Ohio, to his silent film days, Hoppy and his retirement. AND there is information about Dorothy (she was his fourth wife). I was contacted by the author and was asked to share some knowledge, information and pictures of Dorothy, Grace and William Boyd. The book is co-written by Michael Cochran and Boyd's beautiful widow Grace Bradley Boyd who is of course the true expert on her husband. Grace has even signed some special edition copies. I have received my copy of the book and it is simply GORGEOUS! A very classy and lavishly illustrated (HUGE) book with wonderful history and anecdotes by Grace. The 368 page book's Preface is by President Bill Clinton and Foreword by songwriter Don McLean. Leonard Maltin reviewed the book and loved it! Click HERE for his review. If you are a William Boyd fan or a Hopalong Cassidy fan you do NOT want to miss out on this beautiful book! | I have come across a few more movies that Dorothy may have appeared in, usually in a smaller or bit part: "The Sea Hawk" (1924) "Frisco Sally Levy" (1927) "Buried Treasure" a Bruce Scenic Novelty (short doc.) "Bring 'em Back Dead" with Boris Karloff (doc ca 1935/36) "Wet Paint" with Raymond Griffith (silent) "The Blackbird" with Lon Chaney (silent) "The Last Frontier" with William Boyd So far I have not been able to find her in "The Blackbird" and "Wet Paint" is a lost film. I will publish any findings on this site regarding the others. "Cimarron" with Richard Dix (I have had no luck finding her in this movie). "A Certain Young Man" with Ramon Navarro (I was informed that Dorothy was replaced by another actress in this film). |
