Fan Cards were sent out by
the studios when fans wrote
in for a stars autograph or
picture. These autographs
were not genuine, usually
rubber stamped or etched on
the negative of the photo and
most likely not even a copy of
the star's actual signature.
These matte, double weight
photos came as 5 x 7's or 8 x
10's and at one point, fans
could purchase 8 x 10's for
only a quarter!

Tobacco, Candy and Cookie Cards
Just like the toys put in today's cereals, for many years different collections of pictures
were put into packages of tobacco, cigarettes, candy and cookies to help promote the items.
